A very versatile feather with a number of fly tying uses.  Hen Pheasant centre tail feathers can be used as a wing in various flies (such as Invicta, March Brown, or Muddler Minnow), can be used as a herl for a fly body, can be tied in as a tail and can also be used to simulate legs on a fly, in a similar way to a cock pheasant tail can be.  Also a very good feather for sedge patterns.  It's only limitations is your imagination!
